I recently found out that I was selected to have the privilege of writing and recording with one of Pop music’s most successful songwriters, Toby Gad.
Toby is responsible for penning such massive hits as Beyonce’s “If I Were A Boy” (he co-wrote and produced it) and Fergie’s “Big Girls Don’t Cry”. His name also appears on a slew of other A-List artists’ projects, including releases from Alicia Keys, Brandy, American Idol Winners Kris Allen and Jordin Sparks, Miley Cyrus, Ricky Martin, Selena Gomez, Robin Thicke and one of my personal favorites, Natasha Bedingfield.
Name-dropping aside, I am really excited to work with a writer like Toby who writes specifically for the Pop genre and has had much success doing it. I can't wait to glean from his wisdom and experience in writing songs that resonate with the masses. He also seems like a super nice guy, which always helps the collaboration process!
Toby and I will write and record a song together over 2 days in July. And of course, I’ll be posting updates and pics either here or on Twitter to fill you in on the trip.
Special thanks goes out to the fine folks at the John Lennon Songwriting Contest. They have been recognizing and motivating songwriters all over the world for years and were behind creating the Toby Gad Experience. Without them (and obviously, Toby) this wouldn’t be a reality. So thanks guys! Much love.
PS: If you’re a budding or veteran songwriter go enter the John Lennon Songwriting Contest. They offer great prizes and it’s a fantastic way to get your writing recognized!
